At ModLab last night was Doug (dnclabs.com), who was building a circuit board out of copper peel and stick strips, a matte board that he had cut on the laser printer, and some electronics (a 4k arduino processor, some resistors, etc.). Doug was building an H circuit to control a motor backwards and forwards.
The ultimate goal is to build a small car. This could have all the elements for a learning project:
- Make a circuit board based on a design, or design it myself
- Program the chip to control two motors forwards and backwards
- Print the wheels of the car on the 3D printer, with an elastic band or o-ring around it for traction.
- Add a sensor to have it either controlled by a remote control or follow a line.
